Underwhelming
So last night happened to host one of the MMA world’s most anticipated exhibition fights of the year – with the world’s greatest boxer for the last 30 years facing off a YouTuber. But the Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul fight hasn’t delivered among fans – even though it was a match that proved we live in the strangest of times.

Combined, both fighters lasted 8 full rounds and landed 73 punches – with Mayweather doing most of the work, while Paul struggled to aim for his target. By the end of Round 1, Paul started wailing wide loopy shots – driving the crowd wild – but none of them got through.
In Round 2, Paul’s tiring himself out with the punches, but Mayweather appears to be unfazed, waiting for his opponent to fully exhaust himself before taking a shot. Through Rounds 3 & 4, Mayweather lands a mean left hook, but Paul puts all his weight on the champion.
By Round 6 though, the match gets lazy – Paul put up surprisingly good defence, but no real shots are getting through by either party – can anyone spell boring?
By Round 8, the crowd was literally booing them off stage while no real action happened in the ring. Ending in a draw, we can only imagine how sad it was for everyone who bought tickets…

استضافت بالأمس إحدى الحلبات في ميامي الملاكم فلويد مايذر وهو أعظم ملاكم في العالم على مر ٣٠ سنة في مواجهة اليوتيوبر لوغان بول. ولكن المواجهة هذي لم تسلم بين المشجعين على الرغم من أنها كانت مباراة أثبتت لنا كمية غرابة الأوقات التي نعيشها.
واستغرق كلا الملاكمين ٨ جولات كاملة مع ٧٣ لكمة مع مايذر الذي قام بالتمركز في هذه المواجهة في حين عانى بول في تحقيق هدفه. وبحلول الجولة نهاية الجولة الأولى بدأ بول يلوح بضربات عنيفة قادت الجمهور بالحماس.
وفي غضون الجولة الثانية، أتعب بول نفسه في تسديد اللكمات، ولكن يبدو بأن مايذر غير متأثر، وهو في انتظار أن يستفذ خصمه كامل طاقته قبل إلقاءه اللكمة القاضية. من وخلال الجولتين الثالثة والرابعة، يسقط مايذر بضربة خطافيه يسارية، ولكن بول يضع كامل وزنه على البطل.
وفي الجولة السادسة، بول يطرح دفاع جيد بشكل مدهش ولكن اللكمات لم تحصل من كلا الطرفين، وهذا ما جعل من المواجهة أن تصبح مملة.
وبحلول الجولة الثامنة بدأ الجمهور بالمغادرة حيث أن لم تكن المواجهة ذات فعالية، وبإمكاننا تخيل كم هذا كان حزيناً لكل من ابتاع التذاكر.
ولكن هنالك دائماً مرة أخرى!
