The Shura Council held a busy session approving several key draft laws covering legal, economic, and regulatory areas. The most notable was the new Law, which modernizes the legal profession after decades and was welcomed by members of the Bahrain Bar Association. The Council also approved a temporary measure to cover private sector salaries for April through the unemployment insurance fund to support labour market stability. Lawmakers discussed energy sector development, investment expansion, and stronger protection for industrial innovation. On the regulatory side, they approved changes to parliamentary procedures, lowering the threshold to submit interrogation requests to improve oversight flexibility.
The Council also passed a law regulating dangerous animals through licensing and monitoring systems, and ensured equal benefits for public and private sector retirees regarding loan schemes. Additionally, Bahrain joined the Locarno Agreement to strengthen industrial design and intellectual property protection, reflecting broader efforts to modernise legislation and support national development.
