The Bahrain Amateur Open golf tournament is back with its fifth edition starting today at the Royal Golf Club. The tournament features 100 amateur players from around the world including players from the region and Bahrain’s top national team golfers!
The championship follows a 54-hole individual stroke play format, with both gross and net divisions. After 36 holes, the top 45 gross scores and ties will advance, while the remaining players will be cut This event is a qualifying tournament for the upcoming 2023 King Hamad Trophy and holds recognition from the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR) But that’s not all!
This year’s Bahrain Amateur Open offers an exciting bonus. The overall winner of the tournament, along with the leading Bahraini amateur, will secure coveted spots at the highly anticipated Bahrain Championship in 2024. Not only that, but they will also have the opportunity to compete for an impressive prize fund of US$2.5 million! Among the participants, you’ll find two previous champions of the Bahrain Amateur Open, Ahmed Al Zayed and Khalifa Al Meraisi. They will showcase their skills alongside other talented golfers throughout the tournament!
