This Bahrain-based Photographer Has Been Featured on CNN Arabic for Her Series on Mental Health

Enas Sistani is a Bahrain-based photographer, she’s self-taught, passionate, and has an eye like no one else. Sistani, through her photography, sheds light on topics of mental health. And now, she’s been featured on CNN Arabic, where she was interviewed for her incredible work and her personal experience. Enas Sistani – AKA @solovagabong defines herself as a street, conceptual and portrait photographer!

During her interview with CNN, Sistani highlighted the struggles of mental health, body dysmorphia, BPD, and anxiety. Sistani’s photos depict what it feels like to live with mental illness, highlighting the challenges individuals with mental health issues face daily. Her last series focuses on the impact of words on individuals with mental illness. The statements written on her skin are actual things that have been said to her throughout her life, such as “always too depressed” and “my mental illness is rubbing off on them.”

Through her photos, Sistani aims to raise awareness about mental illness and encourages people to be mindful of the impact their words can have on those who are struggling with mental illness. Her appearance on CNN is a significant milestone for the mental health community in Bahrain and the wider region, as it highlights the importance of breaking the stigma surrounding mental illness.

We are proud of her and grateful for the important work she is doing to raise awareness about mental health!

So proud!
