Bahrain Has Launched a Freelancers Support Initiative for Citizens and Here Are the Deets

The Ministry of Labour has launched the “Freelancers Support Initiative”, in partnership with Tamkeen, following the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The initiative aims to create new opportunities for citizens and support economic development by helping job seekers explore freelancing as a professional career path. Yousif bin Abdulhussain Khalaf, Minister of Legal Affairs and Acting Minister of Labour, stated that Bahrainis registered as job seekers with up to 12 months of experience will receive several benefits. These include full support to obtain a virtual commercial registration (Sijili) with fee compensation, monthly incentives of BHD 200 for one year, and coverage of Social Insurance contributions for 12 months. This support is designed to help them start and grow their freelance businesses.

The minister added that this initiative is part of Bahrain’s ongoing efforts to widen career options, enabling citizens to use their skills to build successful and sustainable business projects. It also aligns with the National Labour Market Plan 2023–2026, which focuses on expanding job opportunities across productive sectors and positioning Bahraini talent at the center of national development. Eligible individuals can apply starting Wednesday, 12 November 2025, through Tamkeen’s website.
