Bahrain’s Alba Shuts Down Three Production Lines to Manage Supply Risks

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) has started a controlled and safe shutdown of Reduction Lines 1, 2, and 3 at its aluminium smelter in Manama. These three lines make up about 19% of the company’s total production capacity. The decision was taken to help the company manage supply and shipping disruptions affecting the Strait of Hormuz. By temporarily stopping these lines, Alba can better manage its raw materials and keep the rest of its operations running smoothly. Production will continue on Reduction Lines 4, 5, and 6, which will help the company maintain stable output and reduce risks from supply delays.

During the shutdown, Alba will also carry out maintenance, cleaning, and equipment checks on the affected lines to keep them in good condition. This will help the company restart them safely once the situation improves. Alba said it is closely monitoring the situation and working with suppliers and customers to reduce disruptions. The company added that the safety of employees, protection of assets, and reliable supply to customers remain its top priorities.

Alba said it will continue monitoring the situation and provide updates as needed.
