Bahrain Parliamentary Legislative & Legal Affairs Committee has approved a proposal to extend the working hours of government service departments to both morning and evening shifts. The goal is to make it easier for citizens to complete their transactions at times that suit their personal schedules, easing the pressure during the busy morning hours. The Civil Service Bureau explained that current rules already allow government bodies to adjust their working hours, and these requests are reviewed to align with state policies. However, the bureau warned that this plan could lead to higher costs, especially with the government’s focus on cutting expenses. Many services are already available in both shifts, helping to reduce morning congestion. Any changes will depend on the specific needs and budget of each department.
