The Civil Service Bureau has shared new details about employment across Bahrain’s government sector. According to the Bureau, there are 241 advisors currently working in ministries and government institutions. Most of them are Bahraini, with 203 advisors making up 84%, while 38 advisors (16%) are non-Bahraini. These advisors work across a wide range of fields, including law, management, health, media and communication, finance and economics, education, and culture. The Bureau also confirmed that Bahraini nationals make up 87% of the total government workforce, with 36,292 Bahraini employees currently in service. The vast majority of them are employed on permanent contracts, with 36,180 employees holding long-term positions. Only 112 Bahraini employees work on temporary contracts, most of whom are employed at the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture for roles linked to specific time-based projects. Importantly, the Bureau noted that temporary employees are still covered under government pension and rewards laws, ensuring their rights are protected. It added that Bahrain’s Civil Service Law and its regulations clearly outline how government jobs are filled, whether through permanent, temporary, part-time, or contract-based employment, helping ensure transparency and fairness across the public sector.
