Electricity and Water Tariffs Will Increase for Users Paying Full Price in Bahrain From January 2026

Starting January 2026, electricity and water prices will go up for users paying full rates, including businesses, large consumers, and secondary homes. Electricity will rise from 29 fils to 32 fils per unit, and water from 750 fils to 775 fils per unit. Households in the first and second tariff bands, including extended families living together in the same home, will not see any increase. Plans to change household support programs are on hold for now.

Sewage fees for non-primary homes will be 20% of water charges, starting January 2026. Worker permit and healthcare fees will be reviewed gradually over the next four years. The government also plans to cut administrative costs by 20% while keeping services for citizens, create a system to set fuel prices, and ensure electricity and water costs stay stable for citizens’ main homes. The goal is to keep the economy strong and living costs manageable.

Bahrain aims to keep essential services stable while supporting a strong and manageable economy.
