The Northern Municipality has warned residents that extending clotheslines, laundry racks or hanging clothes outside the boundaries of private properties could be considered an unauthorised use of public spaces. The municipality explained that such practices may obstruct sidewalks and affect the normal use of public facilities. These violations are classified as minor offences, with fines ranging from BD 50 to BD 300, depending on the case. Residents may also be required to remove the violation, and authorities can carry out the removal at the offender’s expense if no action is taken.
The municipality clarified that hanging clothes within private property boundaries is allowed, as long as it does not extend into public areas or cause obstruction.
