The Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf has upgraded its electronic marriage certificate service, making it easier for couples to receive and use their official marriage documents. The service is now 100% electronic, with processing time reduced from 3 working days to 2, while the required documents have been cut by 50%. Once the marriage contract is certified by the relevant Sharia court, both spouses will receive an SMS notification confirming that their electronic marriage certificate is ready. A paper copy can also be requested if needed.
The upgrade is part of Bahrain’s wider efforts to improve government services and support digital transformation.
