Using an Older iPhone? WhatsApp Will Require iOS 15.5 or Later Starting November 30th

WhatsApp has announced a new requirement for iPhone users that will take effect on November 30, 2026. From that date, the messaging app will only work on iPhones running iOS 15.5 or later. Users with older iOS versions will need to update their devices to continue using WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business. The change will affect users still running iOS 15.0 to iOS 15.4. WhatsApp said the update is necessary as newer features require capabilities available in more recent versions of Apple’s operating system.

Most users will not need to buy a new phone. Any iPhone that supports iOS 15 can also be updated to iOS 15.5 or a newer version, allowing users to continue using the app without interruption. WhatsApp has already started notifying affected users and encouraging them to update their devices before the deadline.

Users are encouraged to update their devices before the new requirement takes effect.
