Bahrain Issues Safety Guidelines for Heavy Rain: Stay Safe on the Roads and at Home

Bahrainis are being advised to take precautions as heavy rain is expected. The authorities have issued safety guidelines for both residents at home and drivers on the roads.

Those at home should move valuables to upper floors if flooding occurs. It’s crucial to turn off the electricity and avoid contact with any wet appliances. Battery-powered torches are recommended, and any damaged electrical wires must be reported to the relevant authorities. Staying clear of lampposts and other electrical sources is also important.

For drivers, safety remains paramount. Following traffic regulations, driving cautiously according to the weather conditions, maintaining speed limits, and leaving ample space between vehicles are all emphasized.

Seafarers are urged to exercise caution as well. Avoiding sailing or swimming during the storm and calling 999 in case of emergencies are the key messages from the Coast Guard.

By following these simple guidelines, everyone in Bahrain can stay safe during the heavy rain!
