The Bahraini Farmers Market’s 10th edition has ended and we’re here to tell you all about it. The Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture held the market with the slogan of “Our harvest is Bahraini” in the beautiful Budaiya Botanical Garden from December 10, 2022, to April 8, 2023.

This edition saw an attendance of over 250,000 people throughout the season, making it a grand success!

32 farmers, 4 agricultural companies, 5 plantations, 4 bees, 4 specialized dates activities, and also 20 families produced in coordination with the Ministry of Social Development participated in the market. What’s more, he market was providing children with their own designated village and they were having a blast! Over 15,000 kids enjoyed various events and activities. It’s no wonder that it became a landmark on the agenda of Bahrain’s national events.

Agriculture in Bahrain

The Minister of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, His Excellency Eng. Wael bin Nasser Al-Mubarak expressed his pleasure at the success of the market. Besides, he stated that the government’s strategy, headed by HRH Prince Salman, has launched initiatives for the agriculture sector. Additionally contributing the most to supporting efforts to achieve sustainable food security for Bahrain. The Ministry’s partnership with the National Initiative for the Development of the Agricultural Sector has also had a significant impact on the development of the market. It has also contributed to its successes throughout the past seasons.

Her Excellency Sheikh Maram bint Isa Al-Khalifa was pleased with the market’s success. She confirmed that the initiative puts hand in hand with the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture. The aim is to achieve more success for the market in the coming seasons.

In conclusion, the market’s success is not just about the huge attendance or the number of participants, but also about supporting local agricultural production and encouraging farmers to introduce modern technologies and advanced agriculture systems. With early preparations underway for the next edition, we can only hope for an even bigger and better market.
