Bahrain’s Northern Municipality Approves a Number of Proposals & Here Are the Deets

The Northern Municipal Council is officially back to meeting in person, and their first order of business was tackling a long list of service upgrades for local residents. From public health concerns to infrastructure improvements, the council green-lit several key proposals designed to make daily life in the Northern Governorate safer and more convenient. One of the biggest issues on the table was the recent “mosquito alert.” Following the heavy rains that swept through Bahrain a few days ago, many neighborhoods have seen a significant spike in mosquitoes due to stagnant water. Council member Abdullah Ashoor spearheaded a request for the Ministry of Municipalities to step in immediately. The plan involves draining standing water across residential and agricultural areas, ramping up insecticide spraying, and even extending municipal hotline hours so residents can report problem spots around the clock. Healthcare and community spaces also got a major boost. To improve emergency response times, the council approved a plan to station an ambulance at the Jaber Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah Health Center 24/7. Additionally, sports fans in Budaiya can look forward to a brand-new playground, while a new plot of land in Al-Lawzi has been officially allocated for a mosque under the Jaffari Endowments, ensuring essential community facilities grow alongside the population.

Finally, the council moved to improve home safety with a proposal to add more electricity and water meters to housing units. Representative Abdullah Al-Qubaisi explained that this isn’t just about utility tracking—it’s about safety. By adding these meters, the council aims to reduce the electrical load on internal networks, which helps prevent power failures and lowers the risk of fires during those high-demand summer months. It’s a proactive step toward a more stable and secure neighborhood for everyone.
