Bilaj Al Jazayer Is Set to Get a Massive Upgrade & Here’s Everything You Should Know

The iconic Bilaj Al Jazayer is undergoing a total transformation as Edamah kicks off a massive 1.3 million-square-meter redevelopment project. To facilitate Phase 1 of this master plan, the public beach has been officially closed as of April 13, 2026. This initial stage focuses on upgrading an 80,000-square-meter stretch of the shoreline, turning it into a world-class destination that blends modern lifestyle amenities with Bahrain’s natural coastal beauty. Visitors can look forward to a much more active and accessible beachfront once the project is complete. The upgrade includes the installation of shaded walkways along the entire shore, dedicated tracks for cycling and jogging, and various outdoor fitness stations. For families, the redesign incorporates new children’s play areas and beautifully landscaped green spaces, ensuring that the beach remains a prime spot for relaxation and recreation.

The development also marks a major leap for Bahrain’s hospitality sector with the introduction of two high-end international hotels, Avani and Tivoli. These resorts will be connected by a vibrant main boulevard packed with diverse shops and cafes. Adding to the excitement is the new Bahrain Surf Park and the Azure Beach Club, which will offer state-of-the-art wave technology and luxury poolside lounging, respectively. To make the experience seamless for everyone, Edamah is significantly expanding the parking facilities and introducing valet services to solve previous congestion issues. While the temporary closure means a short break from beach days in the area, the result will be a premier coastal city that serves as a hub for surfing, fitness, and dining, solidifying Bilaj Al Jazayer’s position as the Kingdom’s ultimate weekend destination.
