Winning Big!
Bahrain has announced $3.89 billion in investments across four major projects awarded Golden Licenses at Gateway Gulf 2026, covering aviation, logistics, tourism, real estate and technology.
The announcement was made during the fourth edition of Gateway Gulf, held on November 1–2 at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay and hosted by the Bahrain Economic Development Board (Bahrain EDB). The event brought together more than 200 government officials, business leaders and international investors.
Among the major projects, DHL will establish its first and only regional aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility at Bahrain International Airport. The facility will support the company’s growing fleet and expand its regional operations from the Kingdom.
Capital A, the parent company of AirAsia, will also lead three aviation ventures in Bahrain. These will focus on improving flight connections with the Far East and Europe, expanding air cargo operations and developing aircraft maintenance capabilities within the country.
In the tourism and real estate sector, Spanish hotel group Meliá will partner with Infracorp to develop a waterfront project on Amwaj Islands. The development will feature a five-star hotel alongside Meliá-branded residences.
The fourth project, Digital City Bahrain, will establish a hub focused on information and communications technology, innovation and education. It is designed to attract technology companies and support the growth of Bahrain’s digital sector.
Bahrain’s Golden Licence programme provides major investment projects with additional government support, including streamlined approvals and access to government services, helping attract large-scale international investments.
The four projects form part of Bahrain’s wider efforts to diversify its economy and attract investment across key sectors.
