During his visit to Kuwait hh sh khaled met with the newly elected President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Kirsty Coventry. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the GCC Olympic Committee Presidents’ meeting and the Olympic Council of Asia General Assembly. Sheikh Khaled, who serves as the President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee and the General Sports Authority, congratulated Coventry on her new role and wished her success. He also reaffirmed Bahrain’s full support for international efforts to promote Olympic values, peace, and sports development.
The meeting focused on ways to strengthen cooperation between Bahrain and the IOC — especially in areas like Olympic program development, women’s empowerment in sports, and boosting sports participation. Both sides praised the strong ties between Bahrain and the IOC and stressed the importance of continued collaboration to support athletes and the Olympic movement worldwide. Also present at the meeting were Sheikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, Secretary-General Faris Al Kooheji, and board member Fajr Jassim.
