History Time: Here’s How the Famous Bahraini Brand Awal Dairy Started!

Taking You Back In Time!
We’re back with another success story of a Bahraini brand that’s made a difference in all our lives! Today, let’s take a look at the humble beginning of Awal Dairy. Did you know Awal Dairy Company, was formerly known as the Bahrain Danish Dairy Company and was established in 1963 as the first dairy company in the Kingdom? Over six decades ago, a single idea changed the food landscape of Bahrain forever! In 1992, Awal Dairy became the first dairy in the entire region to adopt Tetra Pak’s aseptic UHT technology, and only the second in the world to do so!

That same year, they expanded into Kuwait with their own subsidiary, marking their first move into international markets. Since then, the brands “Awal,” “Noor,” and “Fabion” ice cream have become household names across the region – yep all one company! Today? They produce over 1.3 million liters of fresh milk every month, employ around 300 people, and export to 18 countries! The company also supports the livelihoods of Bahraini farmers by sourcing primary ingredients locally. Awal Dairy’s story is one of Bahrain’s proudest industrial legacies.
