In Discussion: Bahrain Is Considering Electric Vehicles for Delivery Companies

Bahrain’s Public Utilities and Environment Committee at the House of Representatives has approved a proposal to study the use of electric cars and motorcycles for delivery companies. The proposal, submitted by five MPs, aims to explore ways to make delivery services more environmentally friendly and cost-efficient. It focuses on reducing air pollution, noise, fuel consumption, and overall operating costs in the delivery sector. The plan also supports the development of a local market for maintaining electric vehicles and expanding charging infrastructure across the country. This would help make it easier for companies to switch to electric transport in the future.

The proposal is in line with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030, which emphasizes sustainability and environmental protection. While the decision does not immediately enforce the use of electric vehicles, it marks an important step toward studying cleaner transportation options. The study could help shape future policies that support greener and more sustainable delivery services in Bahrain.
