Tamkeen has announced the temporary suspension of all wage support and increment payments for the month of April 2026. This decision follows government directives to cover the salaries of insured Bahrainis in the private sector using the Unemployment Insurance Fund. By streamlining these resources, the government aims to provide direct support to the labor market and ensure economic stability during this period. The suspension applies to all Bahraini employees currently benefiting from Tamkeen’s initiatives, including the National Employment Program and various apprenticeship and leadership schemes. This move is part of a broader legislative effort to utilize the unemployment fund to protect national jobs and maintain the continuity of business activities across the Kingdom. To facilitate this transition, the Social Insurance Organization (SIO) has instructed employers to register through its official website by the deadline of April 28, 2026. While businesses are expected to pay their staff as usual, the SIO will reimburse the establishments by April 30. This coordinated effort between the SIO and the Ministry of Labour reinforces the social protection umbrella for the Bahraini workforce.
