The 51st UN Tourism Regional Commission for the Middle East Concludes in Doha

The 51st UN Tourism Regional Commission for the Middle East wrapped up today in Doha. Organized by Qatar Tourism, the event brought together tourism ministers, senior officials, industry experts, and UN Tourism leaders from across the region. The primary focus of the meeting was on UN Tourism’s reports regarding the sector’s outlook for 2024-2025, with an emphasis on policies and strategies for promoting sustainable tourism and enhancing regional collaboration in this crucial industry.

Additionally, a conference titled “Sports Tourism and the Tourism Industry Post-World Cup” is set to take place on Thursday, February 13, at the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Centre. This event will explore how major sports events affect tourism in the Middle East, their role in supporting sustainability, and how technology can improve the sports tourism experience.

By hosting the meeting, Qatar Tourism shows how the country is becoming more important as a tourism hub, both regionally and globally. It plays a key role in promoting sustainable tourism and continues to build on its success in hosting large international events.
