Bahrain’s very own Gulf Air is flying high! In the first half of 2024, they saw a sweet 8.5% rise in passenger numbers, hitting 3.1 million. Talk about taking off!
According to the latest H1 2024 results from Gulf Air Group and Bahrain Airport Company, this growth isn’t just about more passengers on seats. We’re talking increased travel volume and a cargo boost too!
With a capacity bumping up to over 4.3 million, passenger load factors climbing to 77.9%, and cargo traffic jumping by 3.5% to 41,000 tonnes, Gulf Air is definitely on an upward trajectory.
What’s fueling this rise? New routes! Gulf Air expanded its Asia-Pacific and European network, adding Guangzhou and Shanghai in China, and Munich in Germany to its flight list. Plus, they’re back to flying to Baghdad and Najaf in Iraq, ramped up frequencies to Doha, Muscat, Manchester, Milan, and Rome, and introduced new seasonal hotspots like Alula in Saudi Arabia, Geneva in Switzerland, and Rhodes in Greece.
Bahrain Airport: Passenger Numbers Soar by 13.2%!
Bahrain International Airport isn’t just riding the wave; they’re making it! With a 13.2% increase in passenger volume, they’ve welcomed 4.6 million travelers in the first half of 2024.
Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) also reported a 9.4% hike in air traffic movements, totaling over 48,000 flights. Cargo operations saw a solid 7.19% increase, reaching 189,799 tonnes compared to H1 2023.
And let’s give a warm welcome to Pakistan’s Fly Jinnah, which started flights from Islamabad to Bahrain in July.
Keep flying high, Bahrain!
