Bahrain International Airport Sees 537% Jump in Passenger Numbers in May

Bahrain’s aviation sector saw a strong recovery in May after a significant decline in air traffic during April due to exceptional regional events that disrupted flights across the Gulf. According to the latest figures from Civil Aviation Affairs, passenger traffic at Bahrain International Airport jumped from 76,397 passengers in April to 487,069 in May, marking an increase of more than 410,000 passengers and a 538% rise in just one month. The number of arriving passengers increased from 37,289 to 234,124, while departures rose from 39,108 to 252,684, showing that both inbound and outbound travel recovered significantly.

Aircraft movements also rebounded, climbing from 926 flights in April to 4,875 flights in May, a 426% increase. The figures highlight the gradual return of airline operations and passenger confidence, reflecting Bahrain’s ability to quickly restore activity at Bahrain International Airport following regional disruptions.
