Bahrain Is Stepping up Its Game to Combat Scam Messages and Here Are the Details

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) in Bahrain has released new guidelines to reduce scam SMS messages. These fake messages often try to trick people into giving away personal or financial information.

The guidelines were created in partnership with mobile network operators in Bahrain, after forming a special team to study the issue and find solutions. During their meetings, they found that scam messages are becoming a serious and growing problem for mobile users in the country.

To fix this, the TRA’s new guidelines include technical steps to help phone companies:

  • Detect and block scam messages
  • Reduce how far these messages spread
  • Improve tools for users to report suspicious texts
  • Raise awareness on how to stay safe online
  • Follow Bahrain’s data protection laws

The TRA said this move supports the whole community and highlights Bahrain’s leadership in digital consumer protection.
