New fathers working in Bahrain’s government sector may soon be eligible for three days of paid paternity leave, following support from the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee in Parliament. MP Jalal Kadhem proposed an amendment to the current policy, aiming to extend paternity leave from just one day to three.
The amendment for government employees has been approved by the committee, while a separate proposal for private sector employees is still awaiting review. If both are passed, this change could offer valuable family time for new fathers across sectors in Bahrain.
