Proud! IGA Received the Champions Award at the United Nations World Summit on the Information Society

The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) proudly received the Champions Award at the United Nations’ World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS)! Our revamped National Portal, bahrain.bh, was recognized from over 1,000 global submissions in the eGovernment category.

iGA Chief Executive Mohammed Ali Al Qaed celebrated this achievement, crediting the vision of General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communication Technology (MCICT). His guidance has been essential in enhancing bahrain.bh and improving access to government services.

Since its launch in 2007, the portal has continuously evolved, aligning with technological advancements and the needs of citizens and residents. Today, it offers information on over 1,300 government services and 680+ eServices, integrates with more than 40 public and private entities, and attracts over 1.5 million visits monthly.

Key features include user profile personalization, a favorite eServices list, government notifications, a six-month transaction history, and a smart assistant chatbot. The portal supports multiple payment methods, including BenefitPay and Apple Pay, with secure options for storing bank or credit cards.

Al Qaed thanked the portal users for their cooperation and feedback, which have been crucial in achieving this milestone.

The Champions Award was accepted in Geneva by a representative from Bahrain’s Mission to the United Nations. WSIS, held annually by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), celebrates digital projects that contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
