Bahrain’s parliamentary committee has rejected a proposal to stop delivery bikes from using main roads. The Ministry of Interior said the idea would not help traffic and would be very hard to apply. Because of Bahrain’s road network, banning delivery bikes from main roads could cause more congestion on smaller streets and increase traffic pressure there. Officials also warned that delivery riders might switch to using cars instead of bikes, which would add more vehicles to the roads and make traffic flow worse. The committee added that many residential and internal areas cannot be reached without using main roads, which is another reason the proposal was rejected.
Officials said allowing delivery bikes to use main roads is the most practical option to keep traffic moving smoothly and avoid extra congestion.
