Update! The King Fahd Causeway Might Soon Get an Expansion

Saudi Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef and Bahraini Interior Minister Lt-Gen. Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al-Khalifa recently conducted a joint inspection of the King Fahd Causeway, which connects Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. During their visit, they were welcomed by local officials, including the Deputy Governor of Eastern Province

The focus of the inspection was on ongoing development projects aimed at enhancing cross-border travel efficiency. This includes expanding processing facilities to accommodate more travelers, which is crucial for boosting trade and tourism between the two nations. The King Fahd Causeway, constructed in 1981 and opened in 1985, spans 25 kilometers and plays a vital role in connecting AlKhobar in Saudi Arabia to Al Jasra Island in Bahrain.

The upgrades align with the goals of the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Council, which aims to strengthen cooperation between the two countries. With these improvements, both ministers expressed optimism that travel and trade would become more efficient, benefiting citizens and fostering closer ties between the two kingdoms.
