Exciting times ahead!
Under the patronage of Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Bahrain is gearing up to host the 15th Asian Under-18 Volleyball Championship this Thursday! We’re talking 16 top Asian teams battling it out at the Bahrain Volleyball Association. And Bahrain Table Tennis Association halls in Isa bin Rashid Sports City, Riffa.
This championship is a big deal for Bahrain! Cementing its spot in the global volleyball scene after two decades of hosting success. It’s all part of the vision of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa. Aiming to make Bahrain a global sports hub, with solid support from His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Firas Jawad Al Halwachi, the Executive Committee Chairman and Championship Director, assures us that preparations are on point, with all logistical and organizational aspects set.
And here’s a cool twist: the tournament will debut the “Video Challenge” technology in Bahrain’s youth volleyball events. A local team is ready to handle this tech, showcasing Bahrain’s commitment to top-notch sports event hosting.
This is a huge milestone for the Bahrain Volleyball Association, being the first such honor since its establishment in 1974.
The 16 teams are split into four groups:
- Group A: Bahrain, Thailand, Hong Kong, Australia
- Group B: Japan, Chinese Taipei, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan
- Group C: Iran, China, Lebanon, Philippines
- Group D: India, South Korea, Kuwait, Pakistan
