Bahrain Bans Outdoor Work in the Sun from June 15 to September 15

The Ministry of Labour in Bahrain has announced an important update to protect outdoor workers during the hot summer months. Starting this year, the ban on working outdoors during midday hours will be extended from two months to three months, running from June 15 to September 15. This ban means that workers whose jobs require them to be under the sun or in open areas are not allowed to work between 12 PM and 4 PM during this period. The goal is to keep workers safe from heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and sunstroke, which can happen when temperatures and humidity levels get very high.

The Acting Minister of Labour, Mr. Yousif bin Abdul Hussein Khalaf, said this extension shows Bahrain’s strong commitment to improving workplace safety and health for all workers. He also explained that the Ministry is focused on making sure workers have a safe environment, especially during the hottest part of the year when the risk of accidents and health problems increases. The Ministry warned that anyone who ignores this ban could face serious penalties. According to Bahrain’s labor law, violators could be fined between 500 and 1,000 Bahraini Dinars, face up to three months in jail, or both. This new rule helps protect workers and shows how Bahrain is continuously working to improve labor laws and ensure the safety and well-being of its workforce.

Stay safe & hydrated!
