Bahrain Has Been Ranked 3rd in the Arab World for Having the Best Start Up Environment

Bahrain has officially made its mark on the global entrepreneurship map! The Kingdom was ranked 3rd in the Arab world and 7th globally in the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) 2024/2025 report, earning an impressive NECI score of 5.8. Recognized as a “quiet climber,” Bahrain’s strong performance reflects years of consistent effort to build a supportive and innovation-driven business ecosystem. Guided by its Economic Vision 2030, the Kingdom has made entrepreneurship a key pillar of sustainable growth — creating an environment where startups can thrive.

According to the GEM report, Bahrain stands out for its easy business setup process, accessible funding opportunities, and strong mentorship support for new founders. The country’s policies also focus on empowering female entrepreneurs, giving them greater access to resources and leadership opportunities in the startup space. Bahrain’s growing reputation as one of the region’s fastest-emerging startup hubs places it alongside top-performing economies like the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Together, these nations are reshaping the global startup scene, with bold reforms, tech-friendly regulations, and national programs designed to boost innovation.

The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), now in its 25th year, is the world’s leading study of entrepreneurship. It evaluates countries based on their National Entrepreneurship Context Index (NECI) a score that measures the quality of a nation’s entrepreneurial environment across key factors like finance, education, and government policy. A score of 5.0 or above signals a strong environment for startup success, placing Bahrain firmly among the world’s best.
