Update! There Will Be No Minimum Salary Requirement to Get a Driving Licence in Bahrain

Good news for expats in Bahrain! The government has rejected a plan that would have required a BD500 minimum salary to get a driving license. This decision brings relief to many, as a similar idea was also rejected in 2014. The government said the current rules and checks for residency are good enough.

In a letter to Parliament, the government explained that they’re already working on solutions to reduce traffic, led by the Minister of Interior. Rejecting this proposal helps thousands of expats who live and work in Bahrain, letting them keep driving without new financial rules.

This decision means expats can still enjoy driving in Bahrain while the government continues to find ways to improve traffic issues.

Great Decision!
