Bahrain’s National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) approved the use of EVUSHELD, the first country to use the drug to combat COVID-19.
Individuals who are immunocompromised or on immunosuppressive drugs, as well as those who are 18 years of age and older, can obtain the drug. Additionally, it will be available to individuals with occupations that put them at risk for infection.
NHRA’s Pharmaceutical Products Regulation department evaluated data provided by manufacturer AstraZeneca before making its decision.
With the use of EVUSHELD, a combination of two antibodies successfully decreased the amount of COVID-19 infections among nonhospitalized patients and patients with mild to moderate symptoms.
