Bahrain to Install 500 Smart Cameras to Improve Traffic Flow & Safety

Bahrain’s Tender Board is seeking companies to supply and install 500 smart cameras across the country to enhance traffic management and safety.

The project will be rolled out in phases, with 300 cameras installed in the first year, followed by 100 cameras each in the following two years.

These intelligent cameras will serve multiple purposes, including:

  • Monitoring traffic flow: This will allow authorities to gain real-time insights into traffic patterns and congestion.
  • Rerouting vehicles: Based on the traffic data, authorities can efficiently reroute vehicles to optimize traffic flow and minimize congestion.
  • Assisting stranded motorists: The cameras can help identify stalled vehicles and dispatch assistance if needed.
  • Enforcing traffic regulations: The system will be used to monitor for traffic violations and ensure adherence to road rules.

Companies interested in participating in the project can submit their bids electronically through the Tender Board’s online system by April 24, 2024. The winning bidder will be announced on April 25th.

Additionally, the Tender Board encourages small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to participate, offering them a 10% advantage in the evaluation process.

This initiative highlights Bahrain’s commitment to utilizing technology to improve traffic management, enhance road safety, and create a smoother driving experience for all.
