Did You Know? Bahrain Produces 14,000 Tonnes of Dates Every Year

Bahrain continues to maintain its long-standing date farming tradition, with the Kingdom producing around 14,000 tonnes of dates each year over the past three years. Official figures show that dates accounted for 24% of Bahrain’s total agricultural production in 2024, highlighting the importance of the sector despite challenges facing local farms.

Historically known as the “Land of a Million Palm Trees,” Bahrain has long relied on date cultivation as an important part of its agricultural heritage and local economy. Experts in the sector say more support is needed to help farmers, increase palm cultivation, and attract investment. They note that Khalas dates remain one of the most popular varieties among consumers, while demand for dried dates has also grown in recent years.

Local factories continue to work closely with Bahraini farms, processing and packaging dates and producing a variety of date-based products for the local market.
