Bahrain Breaks Into the World’s Top 20 Economies in the 2026 IMD World Competitiveness Ranking!

Bahrain has ranked 20th out of 70 economies in the 2026 IMD World Competitiveness Report, improving from 22nd place last year. The ranking reflects the Kingdom’s continued progress in economic and institutional reforms. The report showed strong performance in government efficiency, business efficiency, economic performance, and infrastructure. Bahrain ranked seventh globally in government efficiency and 12th in both economic and business performance.

The country’s GDP reached $49 billion in 2025, with economic growth of 3.5%. The report also highlighted future priorities, including innovation, sustainability, education aligned with labor market needs, and stronger public-private partnerships to support long-term growth and competitiveness.

The latest rankings highlight Bahrain’s steady progress in competitiveness while outlining key priorities to support future economic growth.
