“I’m Built Different”- Bahrain
Bahrain is different from other Arab countries, so it stands to reason, that the Arabic spoken here would be different too. Bahraini.dialect is teaching us how and why the Arabic spoken here in Bahrain is just a little different from everywhere else.
Bahraini Arabic essentially attributes its unique words and phrases to its past. The strong relations between Bahrain and India even before the latter gained independence means that a certain generation of Bahrainis still refer to the dinar as rupee. The same goes for certain words, such as the English word ‘Treasury’; it first entered the Hindi language where it became ‘tejoori’ before finally getting assimilated into Bahraini-Arabic, and becoming ‘tejūry’. Both, the Hindi version and the Arabic version still mean safe or strongbox.
Similarly, the Arabic word ‘bānka’ meaning fan, comes from the Persian ‘panke’ or Hindustani ‘phankā’.
Bahraini.dialect doesn’t just tell us about where the words come from, but also about what common phrases and sayings mean too. Such as ‘fasel/fasle’, it refers to someone who is habitually lazy. (We feel personally attacked by this one though.)

تعلم اللهجة البحرينية بشكل اسهل
تختلف البحرين عن الدول العربية الأخرى، لذلك فمن المنطقي أن اللغة العربية الي يستخجمونها للتحدث تكون مختلفة بعد. اللهجات البحرينية تعلمنا ليش وشلون تختلف اللغة العربية المحكية في البحرين قليلاً عن أي مكان آخر.
تتميز اللهجة العربية البحرينية كلمات وعبارات فريدة تعود إلى ماضيها. من المعروف العلاقات كانت قوية بين البحرين والهند حتى قبل حصولها على الاستقلال. مثل إستخدام جيل معين من البحرينيين الروبية كإشارة للعملة. وينطبق الشيء نفسه على كلمات معينة، مثل الكلمة الإنجليزية “Treasury” ؛ “تجوري”بعد أن دخلت لهجتنا من خلال اللغة الهندية، وتصبح “تيجوري”. بالحالتين الكلمة تعني صندوق الأمان.
وبالمثل، فإن الكلمة العربية “بانكا” الي تعني المروحة تأتي من الكلمة الفارسية “بانكي” أو الهندوستانية “فانكا”.
اللهجة البحرينية ماتبين لنا عن مصدر الكلمات وبس، بل تخبرنا أيضًا عن العبارات والأقوال الشائعة. مثل “فسل / فسلة” ، إلي معناها شخص صار كسول وقل نشاطه. تحس كأن الكلمة سامعها أو أنت المقصود أول ماتقراها.
