Art is subjective. But every artist needs to be given credit where credit is due. And Bahrain has no shortage of talented artists specializing in various mediums. So we thought we could shine a spotlight on some of these artists, in a segment called Local Artist in Spotlight. Our next feature? A member of Art Attack Krew, Fatima Khatoon.
Fatima Khatoon is a digital artist. Let’s take a dive into her mind.
Local Artist in Spotlight
• Could you give our readers a general introduction about yourselves?
My name is Fatima Khatoon and I’m both a traditional as well as a digital artist. Although I’m studying BSc. Banking and Finance in UOB I’ve always had a passion for art ever since I was in the 2nd grade. My style of art varies from super colorful themes to super morbid themes will skull too. My dream is to one day have my own animated cartoon series.
• How and Why did you join Art Attack Krew?
I’m fairly new to the Krew, just joined this month. I came across their work multiple times and their murals all over Bahrain and just instantly knew that I had to be a part of this dynamic team.
• Could you tell us a little about your process? How an idea ultimately becomes a finished piece?
I find inspiration in multiple places. If I see something that I can put an artistic flare to and change up things to make it my own. I might see 3 different things but I only like certain aspects of it. I then combine those aspects to make artwork unique to my creation.
•What art/artist do you most identify with/admire?
I absolutely love the work on Vincent Van Gogh. Although my art style differs from him, I love the dark depth of his creations.
•What wouldn’t you do without?
When it comes to digital art, my drawing tablet is for sure. And also my acrylic paints are very very dear to me.
•What memorable responses have you had to your work?
“Your art has a hidden message” and “Your art style is so cool, make cartoons I’ll watch them”
•What’s the biggest obstacle you have run into while pursuing art?
Lack of support and recognition. Sometimes artists aren’t really taken that seriously, but that’s slowly changing. People sometimes think it’s easy to draw or paint something but it takes a lot of effort.

الفن يعتبر فكرة غير موضوعية وشخصية. لكن كل فنان يحتاج إلى أن ينسب الفضل إليه عندما يقدم عمل يحمد عليه. والبحرين ليس لديها نقص في الفنانين الموهوبين المتخصصين في مختلف الوسائط ماشاء الله .بدورنا حبينا نسلط الضوء على بعض هؤلاء الفنانين، في فقرة تسمى Local Artist in Spotlight. ضيفنا المميز؟ عضو في فرقة Art Attack Krew ، فاطمة خاتون.

• هل يمكنك إعطاء قرائنا مقدمة عامة عنك؟
إسمي فاطمة خاتون وأنا فنانة تقليدية رقمية. طالبة أدرس البكالوريوس في الأعمال المصرفية والمالية في جامعة البحرين و لطالما كان لدي الشغف بالفن منذ أن كنت في الصف الثاني. أسلوبي في الفن يختلف عن السمات الملونة والحيوية ليأخذ ثيم الفن المهووس الخالي من الألوان مثل الجماجم. حلمي هو أن يكون لدي في يوم من الأيام سلسلة الرسوم المتحركة خاصة بي.
• كيف ولماذا انضممتي إلى Art Attack Krew؟
أنا أعتبر عضو جديد إلى حد ما في فريق Krew، إنضممت للتو هذا الشهر. صادفت عملهم عدة مرات ولوحاتهم الجدارية في جميع أنحاء البحرين وأدركت على الفور أنه يجب أن أكون جزءًا من هذا الفريق الديناميكي.
• ما هي خلفيتك؟ / هل يمكن أن تخبرينا القليل عن طريقة عملك؟ و كيف تصبح الفكرة في النهاية قطعة متكاملة؟
أجد الإلهام في أماكن متعددة. إذا رأيت شيئًا يمكنني إضفاء لمسة فنية عليه وتغييره ليحمل بصمتي الخاصة. قد أرى 3 أشياء مختلفة بنفس الوقت لكني تجذبني جوانب معينة منها فقط. ثم أقوم بدمج هذه الجوانب لجعل العمل الفني فريدًا من نوعه.
• ما هو الفن / الفنان الي تجدين نفسكِ فيه / و تحترمين فنه؟
أنا بالتأكيد أحب العمل على نمط الفنان فنسنت فان جوخ. على الرغم من إختلاف أسلوبي الفني عنه، إلا أنني أحب العمق المظلم لإبداعاته.
• ما هو الشيء الذي لا تستغنين عنه؟
عندما يتعلق الأمر بالفن الرقمي، فإن لوح الرسم الخاص بي ضرورة مؤكدة. وأيضًا دهانات الأكريليك الخاصة بي عزيزة على قلبي جدا.
• ما هي الردود التي لم تنسيها بخصوص عملكِ؟
“فنك يحمل رسالة ضمنية” و “أسلوبك الفني رائع جدًا ، إصنع رسومًا كرتونية لأشاهدها”
• ما هي أكبر عقبة واجهتها أثناء سعيك وراء الفن؟
قلة الدعم و عدم الإعتراف بي. في بعض الأحيان لا يؤخذ الفنانون على محمل الجد، لكن هذا يتغير ببطء. يعتقد الناس أحيانًا أنه من السهل رسم شيء ما أو تلوينه، لكن الأمر يتطلب الكثير من الجهد.
