A throwback, but make it artsy
A local artist, Elyas Rasti, is painting some of the most beautiful oil pieces we’ve come across these days. It seems like he puts brush to canvas and leaves magic behind, especially with how realistic his pieces turn out to be. We wanted to shed light on this piece below, of a pearl merchant, Muqbil Al Thakir, in traditional gulf pearl merchants’ clothing. The painting was actually an imitation of a photograph taken by Jacques Cartier in 1911, when he was visiting Bahrain to meet and trade with pearl merchants here.
We’re absolutely stunned with the way the painting’s turned out, but it also just goes to show how history always comes back to inspire the next generation of artists – no matter when or where.

هذا الفنان المحلي رسم أحد تجار اللؤلؤ التقليديين من عام 1900
يرسم الفنان المحلي إلياس راستي أجمل القطع الزيتية الي جفناها هالفترة. ويبدو وكأنه يمسك الفرشاة ويصنع سحر خلاب على لوحاته، وخاصة مع مدى الواقعية في قطعه. كم أردنا إلقاء الضوء على هذه القطعة بالتحديد، من تاجر اللؤلؤ “مقبل الذاكر” في ملابس تجار لؤلؤ الخليج التقليدية. وكانت اللوحة في الواقع تقليداً لصورة التقطها جاك كارتييه في عام 1911، عند زيارته إلى البحرين للقاء تجار اللؤلؤ والتجارة هنا.
وبصراحة اذهلتنا تماماً كيف تحولت هذي اللوحة الفنية الجميلة، ولكنها أيضا تعود في التاريخ لإلهام الجيل القادم من الفنانين – بغض النظر عن الزمان أو المكان.
