This Souq in Muharraq Is Reopening With a Two-Day Event & You Need to Check It Out

A culture trip starting soon

With a modern touch! The Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities announced that Suq Al Qaysariyya, one of the oldest parts of Muharraq, is set to reopen in a few days! The souq has been re-developed and revamped, and is opening up with a two-day event on the 15th and 16th of May, which most probably falls within the Eid holiday!

The souq has five buildings that are part of the Pearling Path, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Muharraq. There’ll be a few fashion and jewelry pop-up stores, set up in the shops designed by Studio Anne Holtrop, with the cafes in the area as well. Suq Al Qaysariyya falls into one of the oldest parts of Muharraq, with a historic market featuring different local shops selling things like herbs, spices or even pearls! The restoration and rehabilitation project was set to preserve the same structure, but add some modern architectural elements to it – using old techniques to create new buildings!

The event will be going on on the 15th and the 16th, from 4pm to 9pm. Make sure you check it out!
