The Bahrain Economists Society held its annual general meeting virtually on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, chaired by former chairman Dr. Ali Al Moulani. The elections brought in a fresh wave of leadership with Dr. Omar Al Obaidli, Dr. Hana Bawazeer, Mahmoud Abdullah, Reem Janahi, Zahra Al Qalaf, Ali Al Sadiq, and Zahra Al Salman elected as the new board members for the term 2024-2026.
Following the elections, the new board appointed Dr. Omar Al Obaidli as chairman, Dr. Hana Bawazeer as vice chairman, Reem Janahi as treasurer, and Ali Al Sadiq as secretary.
Dr. Omar Al Obaidli, the newly appointed chairman, praised the remarkable achievements of the previous board in fostering economic awareness and organizing impactful events across Bahrain. He expressed his gratitude to the society’s members for their active participation in the annual general meeting, underscoring their crucial role in meeting the society’s strategic goals for the future.
Dr. Al Obaidli emphasized that the society will focus on attracting new graduates in economics, enhancing its media presence, growing economic awareness, and strengthening community partnerships with both public and private sectors.
Founded in 1992, the Bahrain Economists Society aims to highlight the cultural significance of economics in development, contribute positively alongside national economic institutions, and strengthen cooperation with regional and international entities.
