Miss Universe Bahrain 2024, Shereen Ahmed, is not only making waves in the pageant world but also in philanthropy. As the founder of Hope Amal Bahrain, she has dedicated herself to supporting single mothers and families in need through social media advocacy. This mission recently earned Bahrain its first-ever award at Miss Universe, further propelling the initiative’s impact and reach. Hope Amal Bahrain was launched in January 2024, inspired by Hope Amal UAE, a platform established by a single mother in the UAE that has been aiding thousands of women since 2020. With operations starting during Ramadan, the initiative acts as a bridge between donors and mothers in need, providing essential items such as baby formula, milk, diapers, and sanitary napkins. Many of the mothers supported by the platform are widowed, unemployed, or facing personal challenges that prevent them from working.
The initiative is open to mothers of all nationalities, ensuring that assistance is provided as long as supplies are available. Unlike traditional charities, Hope Amal Bahrain does not accept monetary donations. Instead, individuals and companies can contribute by donating essential items or partnering for corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Shereen Ahmed hopes to expand the platform’s reach and connect more struggling mothers with the support they need. A feature with LocalBH would allow more people to learn about this cause, encouraging donations, volunteering, and greater community involvement. Additionally, she has expressed interest in appearing on LocalXLocal—a show she once helped produce during her time as Editor-in-Chief—after Ramadan to further discuss the platform’s impact.
Great Initiative!
