Airbnb’s Initiative to Help House 20,000 Afghan Refugees is Heartwarming!

Lending a helping hand

The recent events in Afghanistan have brought about a wave of uncertainty in the world, and in this time of need, the world needs to stand united. Airbnb has announced an initiative to help house 20,000 Afghan refugees worldwide as part of the company’s Airbnb.org charitable arm. This is such an amazing initiative by the company!

The company will contact the hosts and coordinate with them, if they could offer their homes to refugees for free or at a discounted price, which will be paid by the company’s Refugee Fund and personal contribution by Brian Chesky, Co-founder and Chief Executive, Airbnb. This will also include other expenditures of the refugees.

Brian Chesky said, “While we will be paying for these stays, we could not do this without the generosity of our hosts,” adding, “The displacement and resettlement of Afghan refugees in the US and elsewhere is one of the biggest humanitarian crises of our time. We feel a responsibility to step up. I hope this inspires other business leaders to do the same. There’s no time to waste.”

It is not yet confirm where and for how long could refugees be settled, the situation will evolve with the need of support. Let’s just hope for the best!
