In a recent meeting, Mr. Hussein Ali Yaqoub, Assistant Undersecretary of Land Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications in Bahrain, met with a delegation from the GCC Railways Authority led by Mr. Nasser Hamad Al Qahtani and Mr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Samaani. The meeting focused on developments in the railway connection between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia via the King Hamad Causeway, which will link Bahrain to the wider GCC railway network.
The King Hamad Causeway, which was inaugurated in 2020, is a 25-kilometer bridge that connects Bahrain to Saudi Arabia. It is expected that the causeway will be used to facilitate the GCC Railway Project, which aims to connect all six GCC countries by rail. The project would create a seamless rail network that would facilitate trade and travel between the countries.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the feasibility of the railway connection between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, as well as potential financing options and the timeline for completion. The participants expressed their commitment to making the project a success and ensuring that it benefits the people of both countries.
Overall, the development of the Bahrain-Saudi Arabia railway connection via the King Hamad Causeway is an important step towards the realization of the GCC Railway Project. It is expected that the project will create new jobs, boost economic growth, and provide a fast, efficient, and environmentally friendly mode of transport for both passengers and cargo.
We look forward to seeing this ambitious project come to fruition and benefit the people of the Gulf!
