Bahrain’s National Pavilion for Expo Osaka 2025 Is Inspired by Our Maritime Heritage!

Get ready for Bahrain’s National Pavilion at Expo Osaka 2025! This pavilion will show just how important the sea has been to Bahrain since the Dilmun Civilization.

Our pavilion highlights Bahrain’s prime spot as the Gulf’s gateway and its history as a bustling trade port, shaping our innovative, open, and diverse society. This is Bahrain’s fourth Expo appearance, following Shanghai 2010, Milan 2015, and Dubai 2020.

Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, said, “We’re showcasing Bahrain as a leader in innovation, creativity, and sustainability. The Expo is a fantastic platform to show off our heritage and solutions to global challenges.”

Designed by Lebanese-French architect Lina Ghotmeh, the pavilion is inspired by traditional Bahraini boats, blending Bahraini craftsmanship with Japanese wood artistry. Built with recyclable materials and using natural cooling methods, it’s all about sustainability.

Inside, Bahraini design studio Shepherd Studio will create an immersive experience, highlighting our maritime and economic strengths. Plus, there’ll be a business space to promote Bahrain as a top investment and business destination.

Expo Osaka 2025, themed “Designing Future Society for our Lives,” runs from April 13 to October 13, 2025, in Japan.
