Hey, did you hear about the warning from the Ministry of Interior in Bahrain? Apparently, there are offshore companies targeting unemployed Bahrainis with fake job offers in the finance sector. These companies ask individuals to back their projects and promise them salaries, but in reality, it’s just a scam. Victims have lost over BD200,000 in such fraudulent activities.

In an interview with Bahrain National Television, Major Mohammed Al Abdullah, department head of the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption, Economic, and Electronic Security, shed more light on the issue. He explained that scammers are always looking for new ways to trick people out of their hard-earned money. Whether you consider yourself a cyber expert or just someone who’s careful with their money, scammers have the ability to convince anyone. That’s why it’s important to be vigilant and cautious when it comes to job or investment opportunities that seem too good to be true.

He also mentioned that these scammers mainly target young people who are desperate for jobs in the corporate world. They offer them fake job opportunities through job boards and make them believe that they are working for legitimate companies in Bahrain. Then, they use these new hires to call others and invest in the fraudulent company. The callers ask people to send money to their personal accounts in Bahrain, and then transfer it outside of the country. Victims start with a small investment, but once they see a return, they end up investing bigger sums. However, when they try to withdraw their money, they find that it has been transferred out of Bahrain.

Major Mohammed Al Abdullah emphasized that fraudsters depend on the lengthy process of you trying to get your money back. So, it’s crucial to be cautious and not fall for such scams. If a job or investment opportunity seems too good to be true, it probably is!
