Update! Bahrain Acquires 17 Properties in Janabiya for the GCC Railway Project

Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, Wael Al Mubarak, has issued 17 orders to seize properties in the Janabiya area.

This follows the Gulf Cooperation Council’s early June announcement of a tender for the GCC railway project’s operational plan. Companies were invited to apply, with a submission deadline of July 7 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The envelopes will be opened a month later.

These property seizures, the largest batch published by the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs in the Official Gazette on June 27. These include 137 orders for seizing properties across Bahrain since the beginning of 2024. The Ramli area had the highest number of seizures, while Jurdab had the fewest.

The sequence of property seizure decisions starts with decision No. 254 for 2024 and ends with decision No. 390 for the same year. The Ministry decided to seize 48 properties in Ramli for the approved detailed plan for Al-Ramli suburb, blocks 712-744, based on a request from the Urban Planning and Development Authority.

Nuwaidrat area ranked second, with 32 properties seized for the partial detailed plan for southern Nuwaidrat, blocks 643-646, per the Urban Planning and Development Authority’s request. Muharraq Governorate followed with 20 properties seized for urban renewal, based on a request from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning.

In the Jurdab area, the Ministry decided to seize 10 properties for the partial detailed plan for Jurdab, block 729, at the Urban Planning and Development Authority’s request. Additionally, seven properties were seized in both Jidhafs and Karranah for the partial detailed plan for Karranah, blocks 426-432-434. Three properties were seized in Barbar for the partial detailed plan for Barbar, block 518.
