A veiled marvel!!
A three-story building is a home to Bahrain’s folk singing legacy! And local architecture photographer Theodoros Bafitos has captured it stunningly! Dar Al Riffa, located in the neighborhood of East Riffa is part of a conservation project. It’s similar to the Dar Al Jinna that stands in Muharraq. And it was designed by the Belgian architecture firm, Office Kersten Geers David Van Severen.
The attraction of this architectural marvel is a steel mesh enveloping the structure. This mesh also acts as a cooling device shading the building from direct sunlight. The mesh can be lifted on the ground floor, opening it up directly to the street and reinforcing its role as an open majlis to the city!
The building isn’t open to the public but if you’re in East Riffa, make sure you pop by and take in the beauty of this heritage site!
