A longtime bachelor mayor in the Philippines is giving the single staff extra pay on Valentine’s Day to show that “someone loves them!” Singles in a town of Quezon province will receive three times the normal daily wage if they’ve been single for more than 5 years!
Mayor Matt Florido says he’s been single “since birth” adding “I know what they’re going through today, I feel for them.”
“On Valentine’s Day no one will give them chocolates, flowers… so we thought of giving them this kind of incentive so they can also feel someone cares for them, someone loves them,” Florido told AFP.
Other staff will get double pay or the option to take a paid day off!
